Love Sees No Faults

Let’s talk about the other trinity that is comprised of the Me, Myself, and I. We try to do everything we can to always present ourselves in the best possible light. However, there isn’t anything we like better than pointing out the flaws and mistakes of others.

There is a flawed idea that if we push someone else lower, we will be lifted higher. Jealousy can make people full of hate and anger. Instead of being happy with someone’s accomplishment, we sometimes try to find ways to tear them down to make us feel better about ourselves. Gossip can be very attractive and many TV shows have used it as the primary subject matter. Even if the gossip is true, we are attacking someone’s character and hurting them. Most of us like to think of ourselves as the hero or good guy. Well, the hero should always try their best to avoid hurting others and work to save them.

Even the son of God wasn’t immune to character assassination. People were saying, “Isn’t that guy just the carpenter son of Mary?” They were writing off all of His good works and teachings and bringing Him back down to the level of just another ordinary guy.

We should always strive to lift others above ourselves and be a servant to them instead of being the spotlight taker. Jesus said, “If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.” While it may feel like we are going to explode if we don’t tell the juicy gossip about someone else, I can assure that we won’t. Try placing the spotlight on something good that someone else does. Be a character healer instead of a character hurter. If everyone adopted this good behavior, the world would be a much brighter place with many beacons of hope in a sometimes depressing world.
