Have you ever felt distant from God and wondered how to find your way back? Humanity lived in unity with God until sin entered the world. The first sin was not a minor mistake but a deliberate turning away from Him. When we choose our own way over God’s, we create distance between ourselves and Him. Humanity became lost and wandered aimlessly until God sent His Son to redeem us and bring His lost sheep home.
Before Jesus came to Earth, humanity stood cut off from Heaven. I picture this as a vast, uncrossable gap separating us from God. Original sin broke our relationship with Him and created that divide. We did not stop there. We continued to sin and widened the gap even further.
Jesus came to us as one of us. He showed perfect obedience and love for the Father and revealed the path to Heaven. Although humanity could not enter Heaven, God could. Through His death, Jesus bridged the gap between us and the Father. He became the way across. Now, we must go through Him to reach Heaven. He also revealed that God can raise the human body from death. When we rise, our bodies will no longer be corruptible but filled with God’s strength, power, and love.
Jesus said, “I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” We live now, but this life fades. He also said, “Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” God calls each of us to care for the seed He has given us so that, in death, we may bear much fruit. Not every seed produces fruit, but healthy seeds planted in fertile soil yield a rich harvest.
We can work hard and achieve success in this life, but nothing here lasts forever, and neither do we. We should use this life to produce fruit that endures into the next. We find abundant life by growing closer to God and helping others do the same. By following the path Jesus laid before us, we gain abundant life and true joy in Heaven.
