Have you ever met someone who lights up when they talk about what they love? Whether it’s sports, cooking, or music, passion is impossible to hide. We all have something that makes us come alive. But out of every passion we could pursue, nothing compares to growing closer to Jesus.
No joy on earth compares to eternity with God in Heaven. Jesus makes this clear in the Gospel of Mark when He asks, “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?” The world offers power, pleasure, fame, and wealth, but all of it can disappear in an instant. God created us for something far greater than anything this world can offer.
Over the past year, as I’ve grown closer to God, something unexpected happened. My priorities quietly changed. Things that once stressed me out began to lose their grip. I started letting go of what didn’t truly matter and holding tighter to what did. Life gives us countless reasons to feel anxious, but it is too short to let those things take hold of us.
There is a moment I keep returning to. Sitting before the Blessed Sacrament, feeling my heart burn with love for Him. In those moments I am reminded that I don’t just believe in Jesus from a distance. I carry Him within me each day. When our will aligns with His, something shifts. Less friction, more peace, and a clarity that the world simply cannot give.
Many people feel empty because they chase things that never satisfy. A relationship with Jesus doesn’t remove suffering, but it brings a deep fulfillment that nothing else can touch. And here’s what gives me the most comfort: if we stay close to Him throughout our life, why would we be surprised to find Him right beside us when we take our final breath?
