We are each born with unique abilities and talents. Some of us live comfortable lives, while others face greater hardships. Regardless of our circumstances, we are all alive, and even those who endure painful lives possess an eternal soul destined for eternal life and joy. God has given us everything we have, and we should want to repay Him for all the good He has done for us.
People dread tax day because they may have to pay money to the government. It’s understandable that we want to keep as much of our hard-earned money as possible, but our government also provides many valuable services. It protects our communities, provides emergency services, maintains transportation networks and infrastructure, and promotes public health, to name a few. We cannot reasonably claim that we owe the government nothing in return for these benefits.
Just as we should contribute to our government in return for the services it provides, we should give back to God for the blessings He has bestowed upon us. Everything we have comes from God, so we should strive to give back rather than simply take. We can take pride in our accomplishments, but we must remember that we can do nothing without God. He has helped us in countless ways, often without our even asking for His help.
One of the best ways to repay God is to get to know Him and grow closer to Him. This is the meaning of life in a nutshell. When we make this our top priority, we become happier people. Many external factors can influence our worldly success and happiness. However, even if the world turns against us and no one likes us, we can still fulfill our primary purpose of growing closer to God.
Let’s continue striving to become the best citizens we can be, but above all, let’s work to become loving children of God. Shower God with love, and we will discover the complete joy and peace that only He can provide. What is one thing God has blessed you with?
