It’s never too late to change direction and draw closer to Jesus. Discover how keeping Christ at the center of your life can lead you toward true happiness and eternal life with God.
We are all on a journey to eternity, but we are not all headed in the same direction. Despite what the world tells us, all roads don’t lead to happiness. Some will lead us to a dead end.
No matter where we are on our journey, we usually seek to become better. We want to grow as people rather than remain at the same level or in the same place. Many seek greater wealth, better health, and stronger relationships. Others seek more wisdom, power, and pleasure. We can take so many different paths, and we aren’t limited to just one. While none of these pursuits are inherently bad, we need to look at the big picture and make sure we also keep Jesus close because He is the way to eternal happiness with God in Heaven.
We should use the gifts and joys we seek in this life to bring us closer to Jesus and Heaven. Let’s not use them only to make ourselves greater or happier in this life. We can only accumulate so much money, power, pleasure, wisdom, and overall success. Eventually, we reach a point where having more will not make us happier. Even if we become the happiest people on Earth, we all reach the same dead end called death. However, if we direct our resources toward growing closer to God, we can conquer death and rise to a new and eternal life.
This new life will be exponentially better than anything we could experience in this world. Sharing in the love of the Trinity will bring us eternal joy. Nothing on Earth can even remotely compare to the joy we will experience in Heaven.
The good news is that if you are reading this, it’s not too late to change direction. Adjust your course and head back to Jesus, and you will be next to Him in no time. The best thing you can do is take Jesus with you every day. Invite Him into your life and share your joys and sufferings with Him. Receive the Eucharist often, and you will also become a tabernacle carrying Jesus physically with you as well. Jesus will guide you through your life and comfort you when things get tough. If you keep Him close to you in this life, you can be certain that He will be right next to you when you reach the end of your life and begin your new life sharing in the love of God.
