To Whom Shall We Go

When I was a kid and much less mature, I felt sometimes like my parents were unjust with me over one issue or another and a few times I thought about leaving. The main problem with me picking up and leaving was the fact that I didn’t have anywhere to go or any money to live off of. After cooling off, I realized that what I was upset about was very insignificant and that I have a wonderful family who takes care of my every need. I was most happy right where I was.

We have God as our Father and He has certain rules that He imposes on us. He doesn’t ask us to follow those rules to be hard on us. He sets rules because He knows that we will be the happiest when we follow them. When has not listening to God ever been beneficial to us in the long run? When we don’t listen to God, there are always negative consequences that affect us and those around us.

Let’s say we don’t want to follow God’s rules and decide to leave Him. Where are we going to go? Do we find another god to love or do we embrace the emptiness and not worship anyone? Without God, death is the end of us and life has no meaning. We may realize that not only do we have nowhere to go, but we also have no real power without God.

It’s easier to just do what we want to do, but that decision will come back to bite us in the long run. Life isn’t always fair. Some people seem to have a much easier life than others. However, hardships aren’t always bad. When we go through a hardship, we should look at it as a way to grow more as a child of God.

God always gives us a choice to stay or leave, but He does love us very much and wants us to stay. I recognize how weak I am. I need my Father to look out for me and guide me through this crazy world. Life is so much better when we are in the loving hands of our Father.
