The Transfiguring Path

It’s impossible to not be changed by our journey through life. Some experiences change us for the better and others change us for the worse, but we should try to use the positive experiences to make us stronger so that we can withstand the bad ones. We also should seek to travel down the path that God is leading us towards because that path will lead us to Heaven and ultimate happiness.

We’ll know the right path because it’s not easy to traverse. Sometimes we may wonder if we made a wrong turn, because many people are going in a different direction and taking a seemingly easier route. In many cases, it makes more sense to follow the crowd because they will usually take us to where we want to go. However, in our journey to Heaven, following the majority will lead us astray and keep us away from everlasting joy.

Jesus tells us that the road to destruction is wide and many are those who take it, but the road to Heaven is narrow and few are those who choose that path. Jesus was transfigured before some of His apostles showing that He was more than just a man. We are also more than just physical flesh. We are destined for eternal life. This eternal life that we are gifted can either be a blessing or a curse. If we follow the right path, we will spend eternity in Heaven with God, but if we don’t, eternal regret and pain awaits us.

When Moses came down from Mt. Sinai, his face had become radiant from conversing with God. In fact, his skin was so radiant that he had to wear a veil to cover it so he wouldn’t attract as much attention. When we embrace the calling that God gives us and truly listen to Him, we will become radiant as well. Have you ever noticed that some people seem to be beaming with joy, goodness, and love while other people have a dark and troubled look to them?

We need to change our thought process away from the typical worldview. Let’s change our actions to be less selfish and more selfless, less hateful and more loving. Basically, try to orient our lives to be more like Jesus. May we be able to transfigure ourselves to be more like our Heavenly Father and always have that glow about us to keep our light shining in the darkness.
