The Gates of the Netherworld Shall Not Prevail

There are many times when I look at things happening in the Catholic Church and shake my head. There are some bad priests and bishops who are spreading lies and errors that lead people astray from the truth. Just look at what’s going on in the German Catholic Church. We are supposed to be a united Church, but it seems that there is a lot of division. The only consolation we have is that Jesus says that the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against the Church.

While Jesus is looking after His Church, it may still face hard times and have many obstacles to overcome. I love seeing my two boys play nice together and when they do they are very happy. However, they often fight and can’t agree on anything. There can be a lot of crying, screaming, and hurt feelings when they don’t get along. The same is true in regards to different religions. Even within the Catholic Church there are several divisions and throughout history other religions have formed from Catholicism because of disagreements on matters of faith.

One force that isn’t divided is Satan and his minions. He constantly tries to tear down everything that is holy and good, while promoting chaos and division. The more divided we are, the harder it will be to stand strong and fight back against evil. People naturally have the desire to do what they want to do. “I want it my way”, is a common sentiment. There are so many faiths out there and people pretty much can get it their way, by finding a religion that fits in with their own plans. While it may seem great to have a lot of diverse religions, there is only one fullness of truth and every religion can’t be right if they each believe something different. We need to try to unite as much as possible so we can be stronger against the enemy.

Jesus won’t allow his Church to fall to Satan, but there will be lots of casualties if we water down the truth and don’t stand together. We should ensure that our light is always pointing others towards God and not away from Him. If the Church leaders are weak or are spreading lies, their flock will be led astray and won’t be united. The Church will be fine, but how many will fall away from their faith? The more light we shine towards the path to Heaven, the less likely it will be for someone to follow a stray light pointing in a different direction.
