The Devil is in the Details

I just watched the movie, “The Sound of Freedom” and it was very moving. I knew that child trafficking was always an issue, but I never knew that it was such a huge problem. There are so many evil people in this world, but most of the evil gets swept under the rug. The Devil doesn’t like to bring attention to all of the evil that he is orchestrating because he risks having it shut down.

While we are all called to bring light to the world, there are others who seek to bring darkness. The darker the world is, the easier for evil to spread undetected. The darkness is gradual and if we don’t stay on guard and pay attention, it will be pitch black before we know it. It’s a lot easier to fix something in the light than to fix it in darkness, so the key is to keep spreading our light to keep the world as bright as possible.

The news media would rather report on the latest celebrity gossip than all the children who have been trafficked in the U.S. and the world. In the entertainment industry, the old saying is that sex sells. Well, the details say that as many as 500,000 children are trafficked for sex each year in the U.S. alone. Many young men and women on online porn sites are victims of sex trafficking or are forced into that business through the threat of force, humiliation, coercion, or fraud. When someone views pornography, they are supporting both directly and indirectly the trafficking of kids and teenagers into the sex industry. Pornography doesn’t come with a disclaimer that says what’s consensual and what’s not. Even if it did, the person that is being viewed is a child of God and not a thing to be bought, sold, and viewed for our own pleasure. People say that porn is a victimless crime, but the details show that there are so many victims in the porn industry with one of the victims being the viewer.

The cheaper that a product costs a company to produce, the bigger the profit they stand to make. Free or cheap slave labor is very cost effective for the porn industry and the greater the demand for that content, the more the industry will try to acquire the free or cheap labor. The Devil makes the porn industry look enticing on the surface. However, if you look behind the scenes, you will find out that the average life expectancy of a trafficked victim is 7 years and the life expectancy of a porn star is about 37 years. These porn stars are often suffering from emotional and physical problems, so when you view pornography, you could be lusting over someone who is deeply injured or who is already deceased.

We can do our part by not supporting an industry that doesn’t treat people with dignity and respect. Make sure to pay attention to the details in life, because that’s where the Devil likes to hide. Be a beacon of light for others and shine your light on the dark areas in the world so that evil may be exposed and eliminated.
