I Will Follow You Wherever You Go

I just started a new job and there are a lot of changes for me to process. I’m relying on instructors and employees who have been with the company for a long time to show me how to navigate the many new facets of my job. So far, they have done a great job teaching me what I need to know and am thankful for all of their help. When we are in a stage of our life that requires making a change, we have to actively move ourselves forward or else we will get left behind. In order to ensure we are moving forward in the right direction, we need to make sure we are following the right person.

The biggest goal we should have is not to move forward in our careers, but to move forward in our spiritual lives. We move forward by following Jesus, the instructor who has lots of experience. Jesus calls us all to follow Him, but we sometimes put other priorities ahead of Him. While taking care of our family and loved ones is a wonderful thing that Jesus calls us all to do, it can’t be our number one priority. When we put anything, even noble things, ahead of God, our priorities are not rightly ordered and we will be led astray.

As we follow various instructors in life, we will eventually get to the end of the road. We will get to the end of our careers, we will see our loved ones move on or die, and we will get to the end of our own lives. What happens after the end of our road is dependent on who or what we followed to get there.
