I’ve seen so much beauty in this world and experienced countless blessings, yet I’m constantly reminded that life here is far from perfect. Throughout our time on Earth, we face pain, suffering, sadness, fear, and doubt. Temptation surrounds us, and we’re always in a battle between good and evil. The answer to every challenge we face is prayer.
Prayer uses words, and words hold incredible power, especially when they come from the heart. Words can wound or heal. They can ease someone’s suffering or deepen it. The old saying, “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” simply isn’t true. Language carries real power, and it can cause great harm. People use words to curse and inflict pain, but words also transform ordinary bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ.
We grow closer to God when we use our words to speak with Him. Communication sustains every good relationship, and the same is true with God. When we build that relationship, He draws near to us, and being close to God is a taste of Heaven itself. God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden, and He will walk with us again in Heaven. Every conversation with Him brings us a little closer to that eternal joy.
It’s natural to want to handle everything on our own, but we all need help. Invite God into every part of your life. Ask for His guidance in your struggles and His blessing in your joys. Thank Him for the good moments and lean on Him during the difficult ones. When you involve God in everything, you begin to truly walk through life with Him.
Just as my life is richer when I share it with my wife and friends, it becomes infinitely better when I share it with God. We aren’t meant to walk alone but to live in communion with one another and with Him.
The point of prayer isn’t to get God to fall more in love with us, but so that we can fall more in love with Him. God already loves us without limit. Those who don’t reach Heaven aren’t rejected by God’s love; they simply fail to return it. No matter what kind of prayer you choose, keep praying, and you will find yourself in the presence of God.
